• Sneaky Day Session.....

I managed to convince the wife to let me get on the bank for the day yesterday, I arrived late morning hoping to drop onto "Island Lake" however it was full so went on "Heron lake" instead and set up in the "Bricks Swim".

I had been informed prior to my arrival that there was a few fish in the area and that this may be a good place to start if I couldnt get on "Island".

I set up all 3 rods on my ever faithful "Ninja" rigs and put them on there respective spots at 45 yards range.

Unfortunatley not alot else occured, and the fish started showing alot further down the lake, I was get very itchy feet and really wanted to move onto them but with no free swims near them this wasnt an option.

I packed away just before dark after finishing off a KFC which "Russ the coonnnttt!" very kindly brought me and made my way back to the van to the load the gear.

Before leaving I decided to nip round and have a quick coffee with Pete and whilst sitting there discussing the days events on each of the lakes we spotted a few shows over Petes spots, he imformed me they had been showing there all day......I really hope he bags one of the "Big girls" soon, he certainley has put alot of effort in, hes there untill tomorrow evening so may just get lucky!

I plan to be back on Island this Friday straight from work for a quick overnighter.

    Until then, be lucky!

  • Under Pressure....

The highlight of the weekend was waking upto this on Saturday morning.....

Well ive just returned from the Island........

I managed to get out of work a little early friday and was down the lake by 5pm, I managed to get straight into my first choice of swim and was soon set up and fishing.

I saw quite a few fish show over my baits at dusk whilst finishing of a Kebab and went to bed feeling very confindent of a take.

I was awoken a 2:45am by Paul who had landed his first fish from the complex, a stunning 21+ Common.....he then followed this up a few hours later with a cracking looking stockie that was put in last year.

After recieving no action myself by 11am I decided to rest the swim for a few hours and have a mooch about and a bit of a social.

The rods were back on the spots at 4pm and I sat back and enjoyed a Chinese with Paul & Dan and hit the bedchair at 10pm with fish still showing.

After waking up first thing this morning to a bit of rain, I thought I may to just manage to get a fish at last knockings but unfortunatley it never happened.

The lake was full for the two nights I was there and although a few fish were caught I think the pressure made them a little cagey.

If the pressure doesnt ease off soon I may just start on "The Pit" a little earlier than I first planned, we will see.

    Take care,

    Smithy

  • Back On It!

The new carp wagon, just got to think of a name for her now, hmmmmmmmmm......

Well after a hectic weekend driving all over the country searching for a new "Carp Wagon", I finally found the one I wanted.....on ebay of all places! I collected it straight away and its currentley sat on the drive waiting to be taxed before I get behind the rods again at the weekend.

Although Ive been away from Heron & Island for a week I have kept in touch with what has been going on over the weekend.

There has been a few fish out, Kev aka "Carrot Cruncher" managed a stunning mid 20 Common.

Kevs Mid 20 Common from the weekend....

It certainley looks like they have well and truley woken up........although they are still as tricky as ever!

Im hoping to get down straight from work on Friday night and hopefully manage to find where they are hiding before the other weekend anglers turn up.

A few of the lads off my forum are also down so im sure a great social will be had on one of the evenings.....they are usally very entertaining!

Right, time to tie some rigs and have a sort out......god ive still got 4 days at work to go yet!!!!
