• Weekend Sucess!

I arrived at "Heron" mid afternoon and put my kit in a swim next to Paul, I had already been informed that the fish were in the area so I was feeling confident.

After sitting with Paul for a while I got the rods sorted, whilst I was sorting the last rod Paul saw a good fish show on the far bank I turned around and saw the disturbance left so put a lead straight on it.

I got the Oval up and sorted a few bits out and put the kettle on, just as I was the pouring the first coffee of the session the left hand rod that I cast on the showing fish melted off, it had only been out barely 20 minutes!

The fight was short lived and I soon had the fish in the waiting net, we weighed her at a little over 25 lb and got the photos done before returning her.

As always I sent out the usual text, and got a few replies calling me a Jammy so and so, then I got the rod back on the spot and sat back to enjoy the atmosphere.

Pete come down that night for a few hours and we all enjoyed a nice Chinese before retiring for the night.

I was looking forward to a bit of a lay in Saturday morning after a hard week at work but the Sun was up at 5am and so was I, it was nice to be there though listening to the Dawn chorus whilst enjoying a coffee.

Not much else happened on the Saturday although they did start to show in the evening, but I had to be away from the lake by 9pm so I reluctantly packed up and went home to a waiting Indian with all the trimmings and a hot bath.

I'm back down to "Heron" on Friday, hoping my luck continues.......

  • Its Time!

    A photo from "Its Time!"

My favourite time of the day, waking up to this at Dawn.....

Just a quick post tonight as I'm sorting the gear out ready for the off straight from work tomorrow, Ive only got one night to play with this weekend but I'm hoping I can winkle one out of "Heron".

Conditions are starting to look a bit better now, the wind is swinging round to a S'Westerly before going Westerly and the Temperatures are starting to climb again so things are starting to look a bit better now.

I will of course let you know the outcome, hopefully I will have news of large common!

    Take Care,

  • Quick Evening Session....

I decided yesterday afternoon that it may be a good idea to try and win some brownie points and help get the house ready for my sons birthday party which was today, so instead of doing a quick overnighter and packing up early to make it back in time I just went straight from work and fished for a few hours on "Island".

I dropped straight into the "Car Park Swim" which was on the back of a chilly north easterly wind and got all 3 rods out with "ninja" rigs in record time.

As soon as the rods were sorted I put the kettle on and had my first coffee since I left for work that morning, I sat on a well positioned log at the front of the swim in the now heavy drizzle although to be fair it didn't bother me that much I was just glad to be on the bank for a few hours.

I saw a couple of shows, one of which was no more than 10 yards out and I soon had a bait on its head, unfortunately nothing occurred and I decided to pack up a little before 10pm and head home.

With the wife expecting me to do the night, she seemed very pleased when I returned at 10:30pm so I reckon my brownie points will be used next weekend, I'm planning on doing 2 nights straight from work on Friday so lets see how that session goes, fingers crossed a chunk will make an appearance.

Jack had a great Birthday party and was spoilt rotten, cant believe hes 2 already! I'm looking forward to introducing him to the life of a carp angler, he does love visiting me when I'm down the lake!

    Until next time, be lucky!
