• Ready To Go!

Just a quick one Tonight, Ive just finished loading the van and im ready to go straight to "Heron" from work Tomorrow.

A few fish have been out this week including the "Big Linear" that I had earlier this year, it was up in weight this time around at 34lb 12oz.

I think the lakes two big girls "Rudder" and "The Big Common" are due out so ive got everything crossed that one of them falls to my rods tomorrow night.

Its forecast to be red hot Tomorrow and Saturday so I will probally pack up late Saturday morning, Im useless in the heat!

I just hope they can hold off spawning untill I pack up on Saturday, 3 weeks without doing a night would finish me off, im used to doing 3 - 4 nights a week up untill I started my current Job.

Thats it from me for now, I will report back Saturday evening.

    Be Lucky,

    Smithy

  • Good Weekend!

Well I never managed to fish on Thursday night as I had a very unexpected late finish at work, I did nip down "Heron" quickly for a walk and found out that a few fish had been out including a couple of the Big Girls, a big well done to Kev for landing the "Patch Common" at 36lb+, well done mate I really hope that one graces my net in the future!

I left for Devon at 3pm on Friday, a little later than I had hoped, we paid the price as well.......7 hours sat on the motorway!

We arrived at 10pm and headed straight for the pub, its safe to say I fell off the wagon pretty much straight away, so much for being tea total!

A good time was had by all though and it was nice to catch up with my old man and friends.

The drive home was alot better (apart from my thumping head, reckon the beer was funny! I felt great when I went to bed!) the roads were clear and we got back in 4 hours which isn't to bad at all.

The weather is looking pretty good towards the end of the week, so I'm hoping to do my normal quick overnighter on Heron this Friday straight from work, its certainly throwing a few fish up now and seems to be getting a bit quieter.

Right time to get a few things done but before I go I thought it might be worth mentioning that my old friend "Dumpy" that I caught twice last year at 32lb & 33lb was caught yesterday at a new top weight of 36lb+ well done that man!

I will let you know how Fridays session goes and hopefully I will report back with news of a chunk!

    Be Lucky,

    Smithy

  • Quiet Weekend...

Well due to me having a week from hell at work and a few late finishes towards the end of the week, I never managed to make the short journey to "Heron" last night.

So I'm just going to have a quiet weekend at home, recharge the batteries and sort the gear out, although I probably will have a quick mooch about either today or tomorrow and as always will have the gear in the van just in case I come across a stalking opportunity.

Ive managed to book this Friday coming off work as I am heading down to Devon to see the family for a night, so I intend to go straight to Heron from work on Thursday and do the night before it gets busy for the bank holiday weekend, I will then pack up mid morning on Friday, go and pick the wife up then fly down the M5 Devon bound (and probably straight in the pub as soon as I arrive).

If I get a chance I will nip over to Melbury Res and take a few pictures, its got to be my favorite lake of all time and I spent a lot of time there when I lived in Devon.

    Be lucky,

    Smithy
