I arrived at "Heron" mid afternoon and put my kit in a swim next to Paul, I had already been informed that the fish were in the area so I was feeling confident.
After sitting with Paul for a while I got the rods sorted, whilst I was sorting the last rod Paul saw a good fish show on the far bank I turned around and saw the disturbance left so put a lead straight on it.
I got the Oval up and sorted a few bits out and put the kettle on, just as I was the pouring the first coffee of the session the left hand rod that I cast on the showing fish melted off, it had only been out barely 20 minutes!
The fight was short lived and I soon had the fish in the waiting net, we weighed her at a little over 25 lb and got the photos done before returning her.
As always I sent out the usual text, and got a few replies calling me a Jammy so and so, then I got the rod back on the spot and sat back to enjoy the atmosphere.
Pete come down that night for a few hours and we all enjoyed a nice Chinese before retiring for the night.
I was looking forward to a bit of a lay in Saturday morning after a hard week at work but the Sun was up at 5am and so was I, it was nice to be there though listening to the Dawn chorus whilst enjoying a coffee.
Not much else happened on the Saturday although they did start to show in the evening, but I had to be away from the lake by 9pm so I reluctantly packed up and went home to a waiting Indian with all the trimmings and a hot bath.
I'm back down to "Heron" on Friday, hoping my luck continues.......
Be Lucky,
Smithy
